You can request a background check for a caregiver or purchase one from a caregiver’s profile page.
When you ask for a background check from a caregiver, we send them a message to their Care.com account. They must accept your request before you purchase or view their background check.
Request a background check
To request a background check on a caregiver, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Care.com account.
- Go to a caregiver’s profile. You can find their profile using search or selecting Caregivers from the menu.
- In the Safety section, we list the different background options. You can either:
- Click Request to request access to a background check the caregiver already has on file.
- Click Purchase to continue requesting and purchasing a new background check.
- If this is your first background check purchase, follow the steps to verify your identity.
- Accept the End User Certification to submit the background check.
After requesting a background check
We send the caregiver a message letting them know of your request. If the caregiver accepts your request, we send you a message when the results are ready.
Caregivers usually respond to messages quickly, but sometimes there may be delays. If you don't hear back within a few days, send a follow-up message. If they don’t respond, consider moving on to another caregiver.
